Remember - Think Before You Speak!!

How could I be so stupid, twice!!! There's a new little girl in Luke's gymnastics class and she has 2 moms as well as an older sibling. A couple of weeks ago I was sitting in the bleachers and Caleb was playing in the drinking fountain when the older kid stood behind Caleb to wait for a drink. I said, "Caleb, you need to move now, he wants a drink." This boy says, "I'm a girl." Whoops!! I said, "Sorry." Now this girl was wearing forest green cargo pants (not the cute feminine type that some girls wear), Nike running shoes with not a speck of pink or even red, and a Red Sox windbreaker-type sweatshirt. Her hair was long for a boy, short for a girl (typically) and I thought, "I couldn't have been the first person to have made this mistake."

You'd think that something like this happening would have caused me to watch what was coming out of my mouth more carefully for at least, oh, I don't know...20 minutes!!! Not this time!! Not more than 10 minutes later this girl was sitting with her mom playing a game on a cell phone (not more than 2 feet away from us) and Caleb starts pointing to the cell phone. I say to Caleb, "yea, he's playing a game." Yea, heeee's, I said he's!!! This time I said nothing, bowed my head in shame, and hoped they didn't hear me or know I was referring to them. I'm hopeless!

well I think we have all been there. about the twilight books, tell ben that it would be a good way to share in your interests. The books are a little more for girls though. I guilty pleasure for romance novels, and the books probably fall under that category. I can't believe I admitted that. :(

Stephen went to school with someone and did projects with this person and he wasn't sure for the longest time of gender. When he thinks back, i think he's still confused.

I've been there with you for sure!

You are so funny! We've all totally done that before! People call Katie a boy all the time because she totally has a mullet right now... I'm hoping it hurries up and grows so I can put it in pigtails. Then people like you will stop calling her a little boy - I am so kidding! :)

I feel your pain! I've caught myself way too many times saying "oh, cute baby! What is IT'S name??" I don't know what's worse, calling the baby an "it" or the wrong gender...

You're crackin' me up. The two moms preface really set it up for me.

My two older boys refer to androgynous looking person as a "shim." It's not too PC but it still cracks me up.

Your picture with Ben looks great.
